Please join us for this seminar designed for employers, human resource directors/managers, and in-house counsel. Registration includes: program, printed materials, and light breakfast.
Private employers of all sizes should be aware of the basics of the National Labor Relations Act, the federal labor law that protects associational rights of “non-union” employees as well as “union” employees. It is possible for an employer to unwittingly commit an unfair labor practice without a union presence in the workplace. Employees may engage in protected concerted activity in situations other than traditional union organizing and collective bargaining. This seminar will provide employers with an overview of the NLRA and help them avoid some of the common NLRA pitfalls non-union employers may face. We will also discuss recent efforts by the National Labor Relations Board to creep into typically non-union environments with a pending poster requirement and heavily publicized involvement with employers’ attempts to regulate employee use of social media websites.
Presenters:
Tamara Russell has devoted her 14-year practice to representing management and employers in a full spectrum of employment law matters before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Her practice focuses on employment litigation and advice.
Todd Lyon has been a labor lawyer for over 15 years, representing public and private sector employers in labor negotiations, labor arbitrations, and employment litigation. His practice focuses on collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, the NLRA, and labor relations.
