Barran Liebman Welcomes Two New Attorneys

Barran Liebman is pleased to welcome Sean P. Ray and Laura Salerno Owens as Associate Attorneys. Sean provides advice in employment law matters, representing management in employment litigation. He appears before state courts and Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries. In addition to litigation, Sean also works with employers to ensure compliance with changes in the law, including drafting and revising their employee handbooks and providing customized trainings to address harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Sean is active with the Multnomah Bar Association, serving as the Young Lawyers Section Membership Committee Chair, and is the recipient of the 2011 Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section’s Award of Merit. Sean also spends time on the Campaign for Equal Justice Associates Committee and the CourtCare Advisory Committee. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Portland, and earned his J.D. at the University of Oregon. In addition to being licensed to practice in Oregon, Sean is also a Registered United States Patent Attorney.

Laura’s practice focuses on employment litigation and advice. She has successfully defended employers in claims arising from discrimination and wage and hour violations, in single and class-action lawsuits. Laura is a Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representative for the District of Oregon and is the Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Section of the Oregon Federal Bar Association. Laura's has authored articles on recent developments in employment law, and she has presented on employment law topics. She earned her B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles, and her J.D. at the University of Oregon, where she externed for the Honorable Ann Aiken, Chief Judge of the United States District Court of Oregon. Laura is licensed to practice in Oregon.
