On Thursday, October 25, 2018, Barran Liebman was honored to be the recipient of the Oregon State Bar New Lawyers Division’s 2017 Pro Bono Service Award. Each year, the Pro Bono Service luncheon celebrates the collective contributions of law firms throughout the region who have gone above and beyond in giving back to the community. Out of all of the medium-sized firms that were considered this year, Barran Liebman was proud to be awarded with the highest level of Pro Bono Service in its category. Chief Justice Martha Walters presented the award to the firm, and Partners, Ed Harnden and Sean Ray, were honored to accept the award on Barran Liebman’s behalf.
Community involvement and access to justice has always been at the core of Barran Liebman’s culture, and the firm supports organizations through monetary contributions, as well as board service and pro bono legal advice. Among the many organizations that Barran Liebman supports are the Campaign for Equal Justice, the Children’s Cancer Association, Albertina Kerr, Dress for Success Oregon, Bradley Angle, the Portland Opera, the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, and Camp Ukandu. Ed Harnden, Barran Liebman Co-Managing Partner, has been highly involved with Camp Ukandu, a camp for children with cancer. Over the years, the firm has had a particularly strong partnership with this organization, and even hosts the camp’s Executive Director in a Barran Liebman office. In addition, the firm’s Executive Director, Traci Ray, is the Chair of Dress for Success Oregon, and Amy Angel is Chair of the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center. Barran Liebman remains committed to the many great organizations we have had a partnership with over the years and is honored to once again be recognized by the Oregon State Bar New Lawyers Division for its commitment to pro bono service.
